BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, April 7 (PIA) - The provincial government and the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA) will be pursuing the Abaca Expansion Project (AEP) in this town.
Governor Carlos Padilla said the project involves the collaboration of PLGU and PhilFIDA to develop a 100 - hectare land in Barobbob Watershed.
"Our initial meeting with PhilFIDA Regional Director Edel Dondonilla focused on the provision of office space for at least two technical staff and project information dissemination among concerned stakeholders," he said.
Padilla also added that the activities lined-up for this year are the validation and geotagging of the project site, training on Abaca seeds propagation, establishment of seed nursery, conduct of farmer's field school, bagging and hardening of Abaca. Seedlings and nursery maintenance, distribution of planting materials, cultural management and planting, technology transfer on the Abaca plantation and maintenance and production of terminal reports.
He expressed optimism that the project will maximize the agricultural potentials of the province through the AEP.
Padilla said this project will Laos benefit the future generations of Novo Vizcayanos in terms of jobs and income while helping to protect the environment for the next generations.(MDCT/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
