PHNOM PENH, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia on Thursday confirmed 446 new local cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the national total to 8,193, the country's Ministry of Health (MoH) said in a statement.
Meanwhile, five more fatalities have been reported, pushing the death toll to 59, the statement said, adding that 130 patients have recovered, taking the overall number of recoveries to 2,924.
According to the statement, the new cases included 331 in capital Phnom Penh.
The Southeast Asian nation has been seeing the third community outbreak of COVID-19 since Feb. 20.
In a bid to contain the virus spread, the country has banned inter-provincial travel from April 6 to April 28 and has imposed a 14-day lockdown in Phnom Penh and its adjacent Ta Khmau city from April 15 to April 28.
Also, the kingdom has closed down all schools, tourist attractions, sports facilities, museums, cinemas, and entertainment venues nationwide.
