KATHMANDU, Nepal - Nepal received 1.3 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine from France and Italy on Wednesday.
According to a statement published by the French embassy in Nepal, the French government has sent 685,400 doses of AstraZeneca.
Italy contributed 663,600 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, which also arrived on Wednesday.
So far, Nepal has received 43,398,640 doses of vaccines from AstraZeneca, Vero Cell, Moderna, Janssen, and Pfizer-BioNTech.
Birodh Khatiwada, Minister of Health and Population, thanked France and Italy for donating 1.3 million vaccination doses.
"This is an example of the friendship that exists between Nepal and EU member states," said Khatiwada. "As the entire world is grappling with the Covid-19 crisis, a collective effort is the only solution. Together, we all will prevail." The minister said.
