VIENTIANE, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Lao Deputy Prime Minister Kikeo Khaykhamphithoun has called on all sectors to step up nationwide blood donation efforts, stressing the urgent need for a safe and sufficient blood supply to meet rising demand.
The Lao National Assembly has set a target of collecting 80,400 blood bags in 2025, increasing to 85,000 in 2026 and 120,000 by 2030, while maintaining the safety and quality of donated blood as a top priority, Lao National Radio reported on Thursday.
In 2024, Laos faced economic challenges, natural disasters, and disease outbreaks, which disrupted various sectors, including the national blood donation campaign.
