HANOI, June 2 (Xinhua) -- A boat carrying extended family members capsized on the Ngan Pho River in Vietnam's central Ha Tinh Province on Tuesday, leaving four people dead, local media Tuoi Tre reported.
The accident happened at around 5:45 p.m. local time, when a 35-year-old woman and three children aged five, 10 and 12 were boating and swimming for recreation in Son Kim 1 commune before their vessel overturned and threw them into the water, according to the report.
Local residents spotted the victims in distress and alerted authorities, yet rescue efforts ended in failure due to deep water and delayed detection of the accident, the report added.
