Alipurduar (West Bengal) [India], May 28 (ANI): Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar on Thursday criticised West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that she needs to learn what to speak and when to speak.
Reacting to CM Banerjee's remarks, the BJP leader said, 'Using such kind of words against a person sitting on the post of Prime Minister indicates that Mamata Banerjee has a lack of education. She is not eligible to be the Chief Minister of West Bengal. She needs to learn what to speak and when to speak.'
'The Prime Minister asked her why the Vishwakarma Yojana and Ayushmann Bharat schemes had not been implemented in West Bengal. She is saying that if Ayushman Bharat is implemented in the state, then the Prime Minister's photograph should not be there on the posters and hoardings. Who's photograph does she want? Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif's?' the BJP leader added.
He further suggested that the Chief Minister should conduct Tiranga Yatra in West Bengal to celebrate Operation Sindoor.
Majumdar said, 'Operation Sindoor is a big victory of our armed forces, and we will celebrate it. TMC should also celebrate... They should take out a tiranga yatra in Diamond Harbour, their fort, among their votebank... Elections will be held in due time, she need not challenge us...'
His comments came in response to Mamata Banerjee's criticism of Prime Minister Modi following his public address in the Alipurduar district of West Bengal.
'What Modi ji said today, we are not only shocked but also very sad to hear this, when the Opposition is representing the country...In his presence his minister said that they will do Operation Bengal, like Operation Sindoor. I challenge them - if they have guts, go into elections tomorrow, we are ready and Bengal is ready to accept your challenge,' Banerjee said in a press conference today.
Chief Minister Banerjee further accused the BJP of politicising national issues and criticised the remarks made by PM Modi and BJP leaders in the context of national security operations.
She said, 'But please remember, time is a factor. You must remember the time. Our representative Abhishek Banerjee is also in the team. And he is speaking every day against terrorism, against terror. At that time, Mr Modi, not as the PM but as the BJP president, you are criticising the Government (in Bengal) which is giving you full support, defending the country like anything. You are accusing the Government and you want to blame the Opposition at this time, at this hour to politicise things just like the leader of BJP Jumla Party...You are doing garbage of lies. They loot the country and scoot. It doesn't look nice to talk in this manner. Regarding Operation Sindoor, though I don't have any comments but please remember every woman has respect...' (ANI)
