Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], October 8 (ANI): TMC MP Saayoni Ghosh on Wednesday condemned the attack on the party's Tripura office, alleging that the BJP might be behind the incident as an act of revenge.
She stated that the TMC would assess the situation and reassure its workers that they are not alone.
'We condemn this. If the frontline workers of the BJP have done this (the attack on the party's Tripura office), because of revenge and vengeance, we are going to assess the situation and give a message to our workers that they are not alone...Ever since the BJP has heard that the Trinamul Congress delegation is visiting Tripura, threat messages have already started. You are all witnesses to what happens next,' MP Saayoni said.
The incident follows the attack on the BJP MP Khagan Murmu and BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh, who a group of miscreants attacked while they were visiting the flood-affected areas in West Bengal to provide relief and support to the victims.
Meanwhile, BJP Leader Dilip Ghosh criticised the TMC party, 'Political violence has increased in Bengal because of the TMC...The meeting of Bageshwar Baba has been cancelled by Mamata Banerjee...The people of TMC have forcibly stopped the Ravana Dahan program at 9 places...The government is a spectator of people who are in crisis due to floods...Mamata Banerjee was doing a carnival in Kolkata...Hooliganism has started. Especially, Rohingya infiltrators from Bangladesh are being used in this...'
He further claimed that TMC has attacked the BJP leaders several times over the years and demanded that strict action be taken against them.
On October 6, LoP in the Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of orchestrating violence by sending her supporters to allegedly attack BJP leaders and workers and obstruct relief work.
Adhikari claimed that while BJP MPs and MLAs were targeted for visiting flood-affected areas in North Bengal and distributing relief. He alleged that MP Khagen Murmu sustained injuries, and MLA Shankar Ghosh's vehicle was attacked.
In a post on X, Adhikari wrote, 'Mamata Banerjee is in full Panic Mode. She has realised it (quite late) that the People of West Bengal have despised her inhuman act of 'Dancing at Carnival with Celebrities' when North Bengal was reeling under floods and landslides, with many People losing their lives and thousands left shelterless. In contrast, BJP Bengal MLAs & MPs were on the ground doing their bit to provide relief to the affected People.'
'So, she has now pressed the panic button and has now unleashed her goons belonging to the 'Special Community' and incited them to attack the BJP MPs and MLAs so that they can be prevented from engaging in relief work. MP Shri Khagen Murmu was brutally attacked and has been left with bloody injuries in Nagrakata today when he was accompanying BJP Bengal President Shri Samik Bhattacharya to the flood-affected areas. MLA Dr Shankar Ghosh's vehicle also came under attack in the presence of the Police. Mamata Banerjee, you can't intimidate BJP,' the post read.
TMC leader Kunal Ghosh argued that the party has nothing to do with the attack on the BJP leaders.
'TMC has nothing to do with what happened in North Bengal. BJP needs to analyse why there is outrage against its MP. MLAs. Why is the public upset with them?' he said.
He further added, 'We condemn it (the attack on BJP MP Khagen Murmu). West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee met Khagen Murmu and condemned the attack. Our state office in Agartala has been ransacked. The police were standing there, but they did nothing...A team from TMC is going there...Everyone knows who ransacked our state office...Come with us, we will show you what the BJP has done to the democracy there...'
